Owners of Electrolux Ultracaptic vacuum cleaners know that aside from not needing vacuum bags and having a convenient Compact & Go disposal solution, one of the great things about these models is their Radio Frequency (RF) remote control units. These units are conveniently located within the loop handles of the vac, and make controlling the vac’s operations a breeze.

UltraCaptic Handle Remote Pairing

But the thing about remote controlled vacuum cleaners is that sometimes, the remote control won’t work. And this can be a problem if there’s no other way control the machine. You could have the best remote vacuum cleaner in the world, but still not be able to use it because the remote control unit is busted.

The only way to determine the cause of and fix this problem is to replace the RF module, or replace the loop handle. And after doing either, you need to pair the remote control unit with the base unit.

Pairing Processes

Remote control pairing is necessary only for the ZUC4102ANC and ZUC4102PET models of the Ultracaptic, and is unique to each machine. Once a remote control unit is paired with a machine, it will work with that machine and with that machine only.

  • After Replacing the RF Receiving Module

Programming is needed after you replace an RF module in order for it to register the correct code used by that particular remote control.

To do this, first turn the remote controlled vacuum cleaner on. Within the first 20 seconds of turning it on, press the topmost button (power button) and the two bottommost buttons (plus and minus buttons) on the loop handle simultaneously once. The green light should then flash.

If the setting has been successful, the machine will start for approximately 2 seconds before stopping. It should then continue to work normally.

  • When Replacing the RF Loop Handle

If you choose to replace the loop handle, take note that this will not work unless the previous steps have been executed.

Programming when replacing a loop handle involves two steps: erasing and the actual pairing. You need to erase the existing ‘paired’ memory between the old RF loop handle and vac first, before you can pair the new RF loop handle and vac.

To erase the old ‘paired’ memory, first turn your machine on and within the first 20 seconds, press the power button and the ‘minus’ button simultaneously, once. The green light should then flash. Afterwards, you need to turn the machine off at the power point.

To pair the new RF loop handle with the vacuum cleaner, turn the machine on again and within the first 20 seconds, press the power button and the ‘plus’ button simultaneously, once. The green light should again flash. Afterwards, the vac will turn on for approximately 2 seconds and the speed display will go back to zero. The vac should then operate normally with the new loop handle.

And there you have it. Pairing your loop handle RF remote control to one of the best remote vacuum cleaners today is just as easy as (if not easier than) replacing your vacuum filters.
