It’s a great day. The sun is shining, the birds are tweeting, the bees are buzzing, that annoying dog next door is barking and you’re super primed to do some serious vacuum cleaning ! Right ? Wrong. Before you know it, dark thunderous clouds roll in, the birds stop tweeting, the bees stop buzzing and that annoying dog next door just left a smelly deposit on your front lawn. Oh, and you’ve also noticed that a yet to be indentified perpetrator has broken the floor head of your much loved vacuum cleaner.

It’s beginni

Ok, so the Dyson DC05 is starting to get a bit long in the tooth now and chances are, if you are like most of my customers, you may not have looked after your dyson vacuum filters as well as you should have. Now I am going to be pretty bold and say that most Dyson users were never properly told how to look after their machine.
I think it is partly the salesperson who is to blame, and partly the user. Really at that point where the sale is made the salesperson doesn’t want to worry the customer by suggesting the machine might need to be looked after. The customer has also just paid a heap of money for a brand new Dyson Vacuum Cleaner and, of course, they are thinking that this is the best vacuum ever. This great machine seems to be about the most popular stick vac on the market at the moment, so I thought I might take a moment to let you know how to look after it.
Basically, for the new user the Electrolux Ergo Rapido is a pretty simple concept. It’s a stick vacuum cleaner with a removable dust buster in the middle. A spot of genius I must say! It seems to me that because the machine is only really intended for a quick spot clean, and the average user only pulls it out for a few minutes every now and then, most people think this vacuum shouldn’t need any maintenance. In fact, this is far from true. This machine only has a tiny little motor, so a small amount of usage or a small blockage in the filters really is enough to put it under strain. Therefore my good vacuuming folk, to be a good Erg - Posted: September 20, 2016Categories: How ToRead more »
The most significant part of my job is repairing vacuums. I repair all makes and models of commercial and domestic vacuums, and I get to see all different kinds of machines, purchased at a full range of different price points. Most importantly, I get to see them from the inside. Probably the most common question I get asked is whether it's better to buy a vacuum cleaner which uses dust bags, or a bagless machine? I am not going to recommend one particular brand in this post over another but the simple answer is:
Buy a vacuum that uses bags.
Why?
My logic is pretty simple really (even if this rhetoric makes me sound like the insane man who talks to himself and actually hears an answer!)
Every time you fill up the dust bag in your vacuum you are going to need - Posted: September 20, 2016Categories: How ToRead more »
Ok, so I know this isn't the most exciting question, but people do email me often (…really they do!) asking about the pretty large price difference between original Kirby vacuum bags and generic Kirby vacuum bags. Now I'm not afraid to make a pretty bold statement here and there (ask my wife… I put my foot in it all the time…!) but on this particular issue I have to say "it depends".
Firstly I will take a moment to quickly go through the options that are available for the Kirby vacuum cleaner. For this post I will only talk about the machines sold between about 1987 and 2009. This is Legend II through to G10 or Diamond editi - Posted: September 20, 2016Categories: How ToRead more »
Ok … so over the last little while I have answered a number of calls from people wanting to know about Bagless Vacuum Chambers, also known as Cyclone Vacuum Tubes. Understandably, my mature, responsible vacuum cleaning public want to know whether these attachments are a good idea.
For those of you who have not seen them, let me bring you up to speed. This part goes onto your vacuum cleaner rod, acting as a dirt separator so that only a tiny portion of dirt goes through to the vacuum cleaner bag. They are sold in vast quantities in many stores instead of buying vacuum bags.
Here’s one I prepared earlier :
Let’s be honest, the pitch sounds great! “Why pay $25 for dirty o - Posted: September 20, 2016Categories: How ToRead more »Before reading this blog post I highly recommend taking a quick glance at my earlier blog titled
How to Save money on Vacuum Cleaner Bags and other lies
Basically I ranted about why you should not use a bagless cyclone chamber for the purpose of saving money on vacuum cleaner bags.
After having read that blog, I am sure you are just about ready to spit at any bagless chamber you see, and some of you may even feel so stirred as to feel like spitting on the innocent user of that rotten bagless chamber. Don’t get too carried away! Before you throw the baby out with the bathwater, it’s imp - Posted: September 20, 2016Categories: How ToRead more »
Up until recently almost all Electrolux vacuum cleaners made in the last 10 years or so could use the same vacuum cleaner bags. While the Ultra One can still use those standard S-Bags like all other recent models, there is now a new improved bag available exclusively to the owners of the Ultra One.
I don’t, by any stretch of the imagination, mean for this post to be a review of the vacuum itself ... but I just can’t help putting my thoughts out there... I think the Ultra One is probably what I would buy for myself if I needed a new vacuum right now... big words, I know!
Ok...now down to business. There are 3 products that I really need to touch on so you can get the right spares for your vacuum. The first is a standard pack of vacuum cleaner bags (E210B). This is an Ultra Long Performance bag. It has the same fitting as earlier models, but the bag is quite a bit - Posted: September 20, 2016Categories: How ToRead more »Original Nilfisk Vacuum Bags V’s Generic Vacuum Bags for Nilfisk King
In most industries, if price is your focus when choosing between genuine or generic products, then generic will win 99% of the time. Vacuum cleaner bags for the Nilfisk King are no different.
In my mind though, price is only one consideration. When shopping for Nilfisk King dust bags, i - Posted: September 20, 2016Categories: How ToRead more »
The kirby is an absolutley awesome vacuum. In fact i would go so far as to say it is the best upright on the market bar none. The only trouble that really does seem to be too common is that the belt is a bit difficult to replace particualrly since it only needs doing every 6 months or so.
If you would like to purchase a kirby belt we of couse sell them, the code is KIRBYbelt
If you are running low on Kirby Vacuum Cleaner Bags we can help you there too!
